Quick QR Scanner is a utility application that decodes QR codes and one-dimensional barcodes (EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 128, Code 39, Code 93, ITF, PDF417, Aztec, Data Matrix) using the device camera or an image picked from the gallery. The application is provided by LLCAI Labs, a sole proprietor based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This policy describes the data that Quick QR Scanner collects, stores, transmits, and shares with third parties. It is written in plain English so anyone can read it without legal training.

1. The short version

By default, Quick QR Scanner stores nothing on any network server. The scans you perform, the gallery images you decode, and the app settings you choose all live locally on your device. Ads are served by Google AdMob at the bottom of the Home and History screens. You can use the App with ads enabled, or you can avoid looking at the ad slots (they are always pinned to the bottom and never cover the camera, the result text, or any action you tap). The App does not require an account and does not collect personal data beyond what is needed to serve the scan result back to you.

2. Data we collect

2.1 Data stored locally on your device

• Scan results (the raw value decoded from the QR or barcode, the detected format, and the wall-clock time of the scan) are stored in a local SQLite (Room) database inside the application's sandbox. These persist until you tap a single row's Delete button, tap the History screen's "Clear all scan history" button, or uninstall the application.
• Settings — vibration toggle, scan sound toggle, auto-open URLs toggle, and theme preference (System / Light / Dark) — are persisted via Jetpack DataStore Preferences in the application's sandbox.
• The single "Privacy Policy" row in the About section of Settings opens the LLCAI Labs privacy policy URL via the in-app Privacy Policy link. This does not store any additional data.

None of the items above leave the device. Removing the application also removes all of these items.

2.2 Data collected by the camera pipeline

Quick QR Scanner uses the device camera (with the android.permission.CAMERA permission granted by you at runtime) and Google's bundled ML Kit Barcode Scanning library to detect and decode the QR or barcode in the camera's viewfinder. The camera frames are processed entirely on-device; they are not uploaded to any server. ML Kit's bundled model (barcode_ssd_mobilenet_v1_dmp25_quant.tflite, oned_feature_extractor_mobile.tflite, oned_auto_regressor_mobile.tflite) lives inside the application's APK and runs locally.

2.3 Data collected when an ad is shown

Banner ads are served by Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) on the Home and History screens. From the moment the App is installed, AdMob may collect and share:

• Advertising ID (GAID) — a resettable identifier Google assigns to your Android device.
• Coarse IP-derived location (country / region) — inferred by Google's AdMob service to determine which ad campaigns are eligible for your region.
• Ad-impression events (which ad was shown, when, and whether you tapped it).
• Click-through events (what tap you made on the ad).

These data are governed by Google's AdMob policies, including the AdMob privacy and messaging rules. We do not control or see the raw event stream; we only see aggregated dashboards.

2.4 Data the App does not collect

• Name, email address, phone number, postal address.
• Account creation data (Quick QR Scanner has no account system).
• Payment information (Quick QR Scanner has no in-app purchases).
• Microphone, contacts, calendar, photo / video / document content beyond the single image you explicitly pick from the gallery for one decode.
• Precise GPS / location data (no location permission is requested).
• Crash logs or stack traces beyond what the Android system captures by default.

3. Third parties we work with

We do not embed any other analytics SDKs, social-login SDKs, crash-reporting SDKs, or attribution SDKs. ML Kit Barcode Scanning is bundled in the App and runs on-device; it does not contact Google servers during normal use.

4. Children

Quick QR Scanner is not designed for or marketed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has registered or used the application under conditions that resulted in data collection, please contact us at llcailabs@gmail.com and we will delete any data on our side as quickly as possible.

5. Your rights and controls

• See what is on your device — the History screen lists every saved scan, and the About section of Settings shows the version and the Privacy Policy link.
• Delete a single scan — tap a row in History and confirm.
• Delete all scans — tap Clear all scan history in Settings and confirm.
• Reset your advertising ID — on Android 14 and newer: Settings → Security & Privacy → Other privacy settings → Ads. Resets the GAID so any future ad requests are seen as fresh by ad networks.
• Disable personalized ads — sign in to myadcenter.google.com and turn off personalized ad categories for this app's publisher. You can also opt out of personalized ads via Android's per-device ad preferences.
• Uninstall — removes every piece of local data the application stores, including the scan history and the settings. Nothing remains on the device (AdMob may still hold ad-event metadata on Google's servers, governed by Google's own retention policy).
• Request remote deletion — because we do not collect data on our own servers, there is rarely anything to delete remotely. In the rare case that we have data on file (for example, if you write in to us and we keep a support email), we delete it within 30 days of receipt. Contact llcailabs@gmail.com.

6. Data retention

• Scans remain on the device until you delete them (single row or "Clear all") or uninstall the application.
• Settings remain on the device until the application is uninstalled or the DataStore Preferences are cleared manually.
• Any data that reaches Google's AdMob service is retained per Google's own privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy). We do not control that retention window.

7. Data transit and security

All network traffic generated by Quick QR Scanner is HTTPS (TLS-encrypted). Google's Mobile Ads SDK authenticates with Google's servers and uses TLS 1.2 or higher by default. Local data live inside the application sandbox; another app cannot read them without root privileges, and we never copy them off the device. Scan content is stored in the device's encrypted Room SQLite database.

8. International transfers

LLCAI Labs is based in Malaysia. Ad-related data is processed by Google's AdMob servers, which may be located in regions outside your home jurisdiction. This is governed by Google's global privacy policies.

9. Camera permission

Quick QR Scanner requests the android.permission.CAMERA permission only when you open the scanner tab. If you deny the permission, the scanner shows a "Camera permission required" screen with a "Grant camera access" button. No camera frames are captured until you grant the permission. The "Scan from gallery" action uses the system Photo Picker and does not require camera access.

10. Policy updates

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and add a short note under the date showing what changed. Material changes will result in an in-app banner pointing at the new policy URL.
